Cost Accountant:

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing and managing cost data, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, cost analysis, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures.

  • Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate product costing.

  • Prepare detailed reports on cost variances, profitability, and operational efficiency.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to monitor inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing cost-related insights.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.

  • Conduct audits of cost accounting records and assist with internal/external audits as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in cost accounting or a similar role.

  • 3+ years of job costing and bill of materials.

  • Proficiency in accounting software SAP, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent math skills.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting methodologies and financial reporting standards.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
