Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in machining, Lean manufacturing, and coaching. The ideal candidate will oversee daily production operations, ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of resources, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can mentor and develop team members, implement Lean methodologies, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machining Operations:
Oversee and manage all aspects of machining production, including setup, operation, and maintenance of machines. Ensure that all processes meet quality and efficiency standards. - Lean Manufacturing:
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Lean manufacturing practices. Identify and eliminate waste, optimize workflows, and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. - Team Coaching and Development:
Provide coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities to team members. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, and continuous learning. - Safety and Compliance:
Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions. Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. - Performance Monitoring:
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and safety. Report on performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments, including engineering, quality, supply chain, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations and successful product delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience (15 plus years would be equivalent)
- 5+ years of experience in a production management role, with a strong focus on machining and Lean manufacturing.
- Proven experience in implementing Lean methodologies and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- 3 years in a machining environment.
- Excellent coaching and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with production management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
