HR Generalist

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist with a strong background in union environments and manufacturing settings. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of HR experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. This role is pivotal in supporting our manufacturing plant by managing various HR functions, including employee relations, compliance, recruitment, and employee development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for employees and management on HR-related issues. Address and resolve employee concerns, grievances, and conflicts in a unionized environment while ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Union Interaction: Work closely with union representatives to maintain positive labor relations.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selection. Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure new hires are integrated smoothly into the company.
  • Performance Management: Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes. Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on performance reviews, goal setting, and employee development plans.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and labor laws, particularly within a unionized environment.
  • Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. Support career development initiatives and succession planning efforts.
  • HR Policy Administration: Implement and enforce company policies and procedures. Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, ensuring consistency and fairness in application.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate HR records, including employee files, attendance, and HR metrics. Generate reports and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Health & Safety: Collaborate with the safety team to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations. Support safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety within the plant.
  • Employee Engagement: Lead initiatives to foster a positive work environment, enhance employee engagement, and promote company values. Organize and participate in employee engagement activities and events.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on union environments and manufacturing settings.
  • Strong understanding of labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience handling employee relations issues in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, from the production floor to senior management.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing HR challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
  • Experience conducting training and development programs.
