Buyer Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced and driven Buyer Supervisor to lead and oversee our procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in purchasing within a manufacturing environment, proficiency with systems, and demonstrated success in team leadership. This role is essential in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day procurement operations to ensure timely purchase of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure that all procurement activities align with company policies and quality standards.
  • Optimize supplier relationships to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms that benefit the organization.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Ensure that team members are adequately trained in procurement processes and ERP systems.
Vendor & Supplier Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best quality, pricing, and service.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with vendors on lead times, material quality, and delivery schedules to meet production demands.
ERP & Inventory Management
  • Use ERP systems to track procurement activities, monitor inventory levels, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Work closely with inventory and production teams to avoid material shortages and excess stock.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the procurement process and improve system functionality.
Cost Optimization & Budgeting
  • Analyze purchasing trends and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the procurement budget.
  • Implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality and supply continuity.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure that all purchasing activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Mitigate procurement risks by developing contingency plans and securing alternative sources of supply.
Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of procurement experience, preferably within a retail or distribution environment.
  • Strong proficiency with technology.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a procurement team.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
